Our 2nd Family Trip to Sabah

16th November, 2013

This is our second family trip since last year. This time our destination is to Sabah and the journey is by car. Woke up early this morning around 4am to get ready for the journey. Our trip was accompanied by my hubby's friends, two families plus us, three families altogether. The trip took around 10 hours and of course, we did stop in the middle at the journey for breakfast at Limbang and lunch at Sipitang and finally we reached KK, Sabah around 4pm. Check into a hotel, Lintas View Hotel, immediately and take a rest in the hotel before going out again for dinner. We had our dinner at a restaurant called Upperstar. They serve very nice western food. All of us fallen in love with the food there and the environment is very warm and comfortable too. Slept really early tonight. All of us were so exhausted.

Went to have breakfast this morning, having this "鱼滑面" some sort like meehoon soup with fish fillet. Very nice and delicious. Even Kelven loves the food so much but the price is also very shocking too. Today we are going for a shopping trip only at One Borneo Hypermall. Didn't buy anything in the end, just went there for a walk. At night, we are having seafood for dinner. The price is also shockingly expensive too. There goes our second day in Sabah.

This morning, we had breakfast nearby our hotel. Eating this noodle which they called as "生肉面". After that, we went for an island trip. Visited two islands in a day, Manukan Island and Sapi Island. The kids are very happy. Kelven has been swimming in the water while Kelson playing with the sand at the beach. The weather was so hot and the sea water was so clear that you can even see the fishes swimming. My hubby has gone for jet skiing too. Having lunch at the second island, Sapi Island. Quite a tiring day. Dinner time, we only managed to have our dinner in Suria Sabah as it is raining. Having this steamboat at this restaurant called Natural Kitchen. There goes our third day in Sabah.

Today went for our trip to Mount Kinabalu. This is the first time we have ever been to the mountain. It is really amazingly high. But too bad it is very cloudy today, couldn't really see the peak of the mountain. We also went to visit a dairy farm on the mountain, finally knew where the DESA fresh milk came from. The kids so excited as they got the chances to feed the goat and see the real cows just in front of them. Too bad I was not feeling not well after drinking the fresh milk, my gastric is killing me. Bought some fruits along the way too. There are lots of fresh fruits being sold at local stalls along the roadside at the mountain. When we are leaving the mountain, the skies are getting darker, the haze is getting worse, so it is really dangerous to drive at the mountain at that time. Went for dinner straightaway after that, having seafood dinner again tonight at a restaurant nearby the pond, forgot what's the restaurant name. There goes our forth day in Sabah.

Today is the last day being in Sabah. All of them went for second round shopping again at One Borneo HyperMall but our family stay the day at the hotel whole day. As I am not feeling so well today, my gastric is still killing me since yesterday afternoon, I have spent the day resting in our hotel room sleeping. We only went out in the evening to meet up with the others to have dinner together. Went to have Italian dishes tonight, pizza, spaghetti, garlic bread and chicken chop at this restaurant called Little Italy. The food is quite nice but of course the price is also nice too, i mean expensive. There goes our last day in Sabah.

Start our journey back to Miri quite late today, around 11am, after having Dim Sum for breakfast. So it took us another 9 hours to reach Miri. We reached Miri around 8.00pm and this time, we didn't stop at any place for lunch or dinner. Been driving for whole day. What scares us is our car fuel has almost finished when we are at Limbang and my hubby has forgotten to have a stop at the petrol station to refill it. Then with such amount of car fuel, finally we managed to make it back to Miri. Thanks god for the blessing because if our car stopped at Brunei, we are really in trouble as we have no Brunei dollars at all, and it is really hard to find a place to exchange the currency at that time. Furthermore, we were driving alone back to Miri this time because the rest of the families are stopping at Brunei for shopping again before going back to Miri.  Finally reached Miri with empty stomach. Went for dinner and finally reached our Home Sweet Home. Conclusion of this trip, the food and things in Sabah is quite expensive. Even though we didn't spend any on shopping stuff, but by eating out, we have been spending a lot too. But the main motives is to let the kids happy. Well, I guess the motives has been achieved, as the kids is so happy during the trip even though Kelson has been homesick since the 2nd day of the trip. He has been saying that he wants to get back to his own house, in his room not to the hotel room. Funny hearing that a little two year kid says that. Haha….There goes our family trip to Sabah. Gonna remember this experience forever too.
