Chinese New Year 2010 - First Day

First day of CNY - 14.02.2010
This year, Chinese New Year is same as always. We didn't go anywhere and most of the time, we are just spending it at home. Luckily, my company granted us one week leave same as my son's school holiday. Having great time holidaying!
On this day, we are just staying at home for the whole day. Only some photos taken.

Company Trip to KK

On the 5th February, 2010, our company has sponsored us to go for a company trip to KK. The main reason why we have this trip is to celebrate my boss 50th birthday. My lady boss said wanted to make the celebration special as it is his 50th and only birthday in his lifetime. So she has proposed this trip to our boss early october. At first, we thought the trip is not gong to work because our boss and our lady boss have been quarelling for a quite a long time just for this trip. I think it is because to sponsor all the staffs to go for this trip, it will cost a lot. As you know, my boss is quite calculative and stingy especially if anything concerns money. But then don't know how and when he seems to be accepted the trip and there we goes for the trip. To tell the truth, majority of us don't feel like going at all because we know the trip is not going to be fun and would be quite stressful......
5th February, 2010, Friday
Our flight is at 2.00 pm in the afternoon so we still have to work half day in the morning till 12.00 pm today. I guess most of us wasn't in the mood to work too and I was wondering why we have to work half day at all and it will be quite rushing for us to get to the airport later. After work, I went directly back home and have a quick lunch then rush to the airport. We arrived at KK around 2.30 pm as we get on the plane quite early, not as the scheduled time. All of us, 15 of us (my boss, his wife, his mother, two sons and a daughter, my lady boss, and we all 8 staffs, waiting at the main entrance of the airport for cars to bring us to the hotel for checking in. So this is not a well planned trip so we got a bit problem with the transport thing but in the end everything has sorted out. Checking into the hotel called NOVATEL HOTEL situated in the same building with this new opened shopping mall, ONE BORNEO in KK. Me and my senior clerk shared a room. The room was ok and all that, quite comfortable and classy but i knew tonight i can't even have a good sleep at all. After that, we went to have some tea with our boss at a coffee shop called IPOH TOWN COFFEE SHOP. Drinking this stupid coffee, mixture of tea and coffee that makes me feel so uncomfortable and feel like vomiting. Then at night having dinner at a seafood restaurant called PORTVIEW RESTAURANT, eating lots of expensive seafood such as prawn, fish, clam and more. But I can't even finish my bowl of rice as I am not feeling good after drinking that stupid coffee. I guess I can't drink coffee at all. After dinner, we went to the nightlife in KK. Went to a pub where there is live band performance. Drinking beer, listening to the singing, it was really suffering. The smell of the cigarrette makes all my hair so smelly and it was so noisy too. I thought this is it and then we can go back to our hotel then but then they went to another pub again which is even worse. There are a few dancer who perform this pole dance but....nothing special about it as they are only dancing like normal around the pole. I was thinking of seeing something like they are spinning from the top of the pole to the bottom of the pole but none. That place is even worse, more noisier and boring too. My boss is having his 50th birthday celebration there where all the people there sang the birthday song for him and even the dancer invite him to dance with them which he really did and my lady boss was dancing like crazy and a few of my colleague too. A few of us just sit there like a fool seeing them enjoy themselves and keep on wondering, what is so fun about this. I feel like we are here just for work, as if we are the PR lady accompanied our boss to go out for drinking. The celebration goes till 1.30 am at night then finally we could get back to our hotel room. One of my colleague is even drunk till collapse. We have to carry her back to the car. That night was a tough night, I didn't even sleep at all as I really miss home, my bed, my hubby and my son too.
6th February, 2010, Saturday
I wake up quite early this morning just to call my hubby to wake my son from sleep. He is having replacement class today and have to go to school today. So I am the alarm to wake them up and after that I couldn't sleep anymore. Watching TV till 9.oo am until me and my senior feel so hungry. So both of us went down to the shop and have breakfast at the same coffee shop we have coffee yesterday. Well then all the others came and meet us up and have breakfast with us. After the breakfast, then it is really our free time. We all go shopping in ONE BORNEO. Me and my colleague spend half day to finish wandering the whole area of ONE BORNEO and found out that there is not much thing to buy at all. The things are so expensive and not worth it at all. But I did buy something for my hubby and son as I have promised them I would buy them something. Buy clothes for my hubby and toys for my son. Then have pizza with our lady boss then went back to our hotel room for resting. At night, having dinner at the restaurant in our hotel. Having buffet dinner and the food was horrible. Then tonight, we all went back to sleep early as our flight is at 7.00 am tomorrow.
7th February, 2010, Sunday
Yeah, finally can go back to Miri, wake up at 5.00 am to get ready to go back. Arrived Miri around 8.20 am.....that's all for our KK trip. Tiring and boring.

Unforgetable New Year Eve

Last night was New Year Eve. I was very excited because finally year 2009 has come to an end and another new year is coming. I really hope that year 2010 will be good for me. Hopefully anything that i couldn't done in 2009 can be accomplish in this year. But this New Year Eve was a day that I think I would remember most in my life. Last night, we were planning to see my hubby's friend to play the fireworks at midnight. I have already told my son early yesterday that he has to take a nap in the afternoon so that that night he can stay late to see the fireworks. But after work, he followed his auntie together with cousin to their house and play until around 8.00 p.m. something. When my son was back, he was so tired and exhausted so I have no choice but to ask him to sleep early tonight. So I put him to sleep around 10.00 p.m. After he has slept, me and my hubby went out to have our supper because it has been a long time since both of us have eaten chicken chop. So around 11.00 p.m. we were still enjoying our chicken chop and we received a phone call from my hubby's sister. She said his son was admitted to the hospital because his arm has broken. Suddenly, we have no appetite to eat more and rushed to the hospital to see what was the condition. When we reached the hospital, our nephew was crying because of pain and the doctor said he has broken two of his bone at his left arm. He has to be admitted immediately to the hospital to do the small operation on his arm. It's not those kind of surgery that needed to cut his arm. Only to pull back his bone to its original position and have to bandage it and wear a sling for quite a long time. Then we spent our New Year Eve at the hospital, waiting for everything is ok then we left. The reason that he has broken his arm is because he climbed the table at his house and maybe when he wanted to come down, he has lose control and didn't step on anything and just fell from the table. Can you imagine a 4 to 5 year kid have to suffer this kind of pain? We are very pity of him. Luckily my hubby is around there, because they need somebody to carry the kid up and down the staircase. This is really the most unforgetable New Year Eve I have ever experienced.

Merry Christmas 2009!

This year before Christmas, Kelven has took a few photos with the Christmas tree in the mall around miri. (First photo: Boulevard Shopping Mall, Second & Third photos: Imperial Hotel)

Eventhough we are not Christian but we seems to follow a bit of their culture. A week before Christmas, we have bought a Christmas tree (medium size) and the ornaments to be decorated on the Christmas tree. Luckily we didn't spend so much on the tree because now within RM50 you can buy a tree and the decoration too at the Super Save Store (the shop that sold things very cheap mostly made in China). So on the same day, we decorated the tree, me, my hubby and my son spend the whole night hanging the ornaments on the tree and to our surprise, the tree looks really nice eventhough it was loaded with too much ornaments.

WITHOUT LIGHTS

WITH LIGHTS

Last night was Christmas Eve, we didn't really celebrate it but the kids at home are having fun in exchanging presents at home. Seeing the kids so happy makes you happy too. Sometimes I wonder, wasn't it good if I could become a kid again?

Wedding Dinner

On 11th day of December, 2009, I have attended my office lawyer's wedding dinner at the Imperial Hotel Grand Ballroom. The food was nice and the wedding was not boring too. I guess they have spent quite a lot on hiring the people for performance such as singing, belly dancing, magic show and so on. I didn't stay till the end of the dinner wedding dinner but I still can say that the food was nice.

Kelven's Colouring Competition

20th November, 2009

This day was Kelven's Colouring Competition at the Miri Civic Centre. Kelven was selected from his class to participate in the Colouring Competition sponsored by VICO and held by the Miri City Council at the Miri Civic Centre (Miri Public Library). Too bad, in the end, he didn't won any prizes for the competition. I think the picture that they gave them to colour is quite hard for his age. Furthermore, lots of other school are also participating, so chances of winning also very low. Well, as long as he has experience how a colouring competition is, it should be enough.

November-a busy month

My Part time Job
I have been teaching part-time for almost 2 months but finally i have decided to quit the part time job. A lot has happen actually. When I got my salary last month for my part-time teaching, I was so shocked to find out that it was so much less than what i expected. I am supposed getting RM400 per month but they only gave me RM320 only last month. After spending time calculating again and again, then I knew they only gave me RM20 per session not RM25 per session as promised. I have called the company and asked about it, they said they will check it out for me. But then after waiting for a reply for quite a long time, I called again and said if they didn't give me a good explaination then i will stop teaching immediately. Well, finally they said there are some misunderstood between the accountant and the headquarter, so they will pay me back the shortfall together with my next month salary. But after long consideration, I think it's not really worth it to work with a company which is not trustable and reliable, so I had taught until 20th this month, exactly the day of the closing of the company account. So that they won't owe me extra salary again. Hopefully I can get my teaching salary next month. Who knows they are going to do the same thing again later.
Kelven's Prize Giving Ceremony 14th November, 2009
This day was Kelven's School Prize Giving Ceremony started at 8.30 a.m. till 11.00 a.m. This morning, we woke up very early just to get prepared for this big day. Kelven has got 3 prizes this year for chinese, english and drawing competition. One 3rd prize and the rest are consolation prize. We are so proud of him.

Kelven's 4th Birthday 14th November, 2009 Today is also Kelven's 4th Birthday. We have made a small celebration at home by ordering some dishes from the restaurant to eat at home, a birthday cake and his cousins to play with him along of course, the same as last year. He was very happy coz he got lots of presents today.

Part-time job

Yesterday I have started my part-time teaching job at my ex-company. But this is my first experience in teaching mandarin. To my surprise, only three students appeared for the lesson. It has been one year plus since the last time i taught. So i felt a bit nervous and don't know what to say or do at certain time. Furthermore, I am not an expert in Mandarin so it's a bit challenging to me. But i feel comfortable teaching and I didn't even realise that the time has come to an end. One and a half hour teaching for RM25, worth it right? So hopefully my body would have the strength to work overtime for four days a week.

A little bit comment of my ex-company, i found that the place is an abandon city or some sort of ghost city. The students are not much left. It is like waiting to close down already. I will just wait and see how's the condition and if it gone worst, i will just say bye bye to all of them.
